The frames of these high quality windows are constructed entirely of extruded vinyl molded to tightly controlled tolerances. These highly engineered windows employ internal support structures and baffles much like those found in aircraft. This provides the greatest amount of mechanical strength with the least amount of weight and the greatest insulation value, for a reasonable cost.

On large windows such as picture windows or those typically found in commercial buildings, the weight of the glass can become too great for even a highly engineered vinyl-only frame. To add even more strength, aluminum subframes are integrated into the vinyl frames as part of the frame molding process. This not only provides ample strength to safely hold large sheets of glass, it also allows these windows to carry a light commercial rating.

Since vinyl itself is immune to decay, doesn't allow moisture penetration, and utilizes an internally complex construction technique to reduce heat loss, these windows will tolerate extreme weather with minimal maintenance.

The color of the vinyl frame is determined by the color of vinyl being used. Milgard Classic series windows are available in white and desert tan. Vinyl should not be painted. Unlike wood framed windows, damage such as scratches and dents are almost invisible in vinyl frames because the pigment isn't simply a surface coating.
